Did you know that many students lose up to two months of reading progress over summer break? The Y Readers program is dedicated to preventing this “summer slide,” especially for K–3rd grade students who are building their reading foundations. You can help make a difference by becoming a Y Readers Book Buddy! Book Buddies read one-on-one with children in our literacy program for four weeks (one hour per week) to help build confidence and strengthen reading skills. We provide all the materials—you just bring your time and encouragement. Join us as we work together to support young readers in our community! Important: Book buddies should pick the day of the week that works best for them. The day you select will remain your day of the week for all 4 weeks.
